SynthID Detector

The SynthID Detector identifies Google's invisible SynthID digital watermark embedded in AI-generated images. It analyzes your image, checks for hidden identifiers, and helps you determine whether the content was produced using Google's AI tools.

Use This to Remove SynthID

Step-by-Step Guide to Detect SynthID

Step 1

Generate or Get the Image

Start by creating an image using a Google AI tool, such as Imagen, or choose an existing image you want to verify. These AI tools automatically embed a hidden SynthID watermark into images, which cannot be seen with the naked eye but can be detected using the official tool. Make sure your image is saved in a common format like JPG or PNG for best results.

Step 2

Open SynthID Detector & Upload the Image

Go to the official SynthID Detector page: Detect SynthID. Once the page opens, click on the "Try in Gemini" and after click on "+" icon to upload image you want to check. The tool will prepare your image for analysis, scanning it for the hidden SynthID watermark. Uploading the original image gives the most accurate results.
Step 3

Ask the Tool to Check for SynthID

After uploading the image, type a prompt to instruct the tool to start detection. For example:

"Was this created with Google AI?"
"Is this image AI-generated?"

This tells the tool to scan the image for Google's invisible watermark and determine if it was generated or modified using a Google AI tool.

Step 4

View the Results

Once the scan is complete, the tool will show the results:

If SynthID is detected: The tool will confirm that the image contains the Google watermark, indicating it was generated or edited using a Google AI tool.
If no watermark is found: The tool will report that no SynthID was detected. This means the image was likely not created by Google AI, or the watermark could have been weakened by heavy editing, cropping, or compression.
